Air Compressor Hour Meter Wiring

Posted on  by admin
I would really appreaciate help from some folks. I have received my hour meter and there were no wiring diagrams with it.
  • I have a basic idear of what I should do but need confirmation if what I'm thinking, is correct? The hour meter has two terminals in the backside, neither are marked + or - so polarity is not a factor (I think).

I was told that it should be run in parallel on the motor side of the pressure switch?A buddy of mine came up with the following schematic (if that's what you want to call it) .

Im not sure i would want to screw around with the wires because i don't trust myself. I keep a logbook with the compressor at all times and fill it out every time. If you figure out a good timer i can attach without cutting wires please let me know.On a side note I just did my first oil change at about 7 hours and glad I did. When I drained the old oil it came out with a blue tint. The oil I put in was not blue. Im assuming it was the crappy oil they put in to keep it from rusting so Im glad it has been flushed out. This time I put in a synthetic blend compressor oil and it ran cooler than before. Good luck.

You can purchase the wireless vibration activated type hour meter from Ebay for about $20.
I use these on my lathe and mill machine to track usage and I have one on my portable generator.
