Davis Vantage Pro 2 Reset

Overview

Follow the steps below to reset a Davis Weather station Gateway. This is often used in troubleshooting scenarios.

Soft Reset (GSM)

  1. Press the blue button within the Vantage Connect or Gateway enclosure
  2. Observe the LED lights during the start up process
    • Be prepared to report the LED light status to FarmQA Support if troubleshooting is required
  3. LED light status
    • During startup: While the Vantage Connect is searching for signal, the LED lights will flash. The top LED will flash green, and the bottom will flash blue
    • When signal is acquired: The LED's will stop flashing and stay on as a solid color. the Top LED will be solid green, and the bottom will be solid Blue.
    • After several minuets the solid LED lights will time out and go off.
  1. If there is a connection error, the lights will flash quickly. Their behavior will indicate the type of error. See the chart below for possible errors.

Soft Reset (CDMA)

  1. Press the blue button within the Vantage Connect or Gateway enclosure
  2. Observe the LED lights during the start up process
    • Be prepared to report the LED light status to FarmQA Support if troubleshooting is required
  3. LED light status
    • During startup: While the Vantage Connect is searching for signal, the LED lights will flash. The upper LED will flash green, and the bottom LED set will flash various colors
    • When signal is acquired: Once the signal is detected, all four cell status lights will turn solid and stay on for a few minuets, indicating success
  4. If there is a connection error, the lights will flash quickly. Their behavior will indicate the type of error. See the chart below for further diagnosis.

Hard Reset

Only use this option if the soft reset did not work after several tries, including a 5 to 10 minuet wait time in between resets.

  1. Open the enclosure to the Vantage Connect or Gateway
  2. Ensure the vantage connect has all power removed as shown below
  3. Unplug both the white primary power jack (#1) and the red, spade connection at the battery (#2)
