Several actors in Super Sentai have also appeared in Kamen Rider. Kamen Rider has several shoutouts and references to Super Sentai as well as a crossover. Kamen Rider is mentioned in JAKQ Dengekitai vs. It is said that Kamen Rider V3 is fighting Baron Iron Mask and Kamen Rider Amazon is fighting in South America.

Super Sentai

Super Sentai and Kamen Rider movies are often billed together. On one such instance, in 1994, the two movies were linked together. Super Sentai World and Kamen Rider World were shown as a triple feature alongside a Metal Heroesmovie which did not share this connection. Both Super Sentai World and Kamen Rider World featured the supporting characters, Masato, played by Shiro Izumi of Changeman and Zyuranger fame, and his younger sister Ayumi.

Cast[edit]

  • The Hyper Battle VideoKamen Rider Ryuki: Ryuki vs Kamen Rider Agito, sees Shinji Kido having a dream where, as Kamen Rider Ryuki, he joins up with Kamen RidersKnight, Zolda, and Ouja. They then team up with Agito. The riders act out of character in the dream, more like a Super Sentai team. The Abaranger movie, Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger: Abare Summer is Freezing!, included a reference to the Kamen Rider movie it was double-billed with, Kamen Rider 555: Paradise Lost (mostly as a breaking the fourth-wall joke), where Disciple of Dawn Lije tells Visionary Messenger Voffa there isn't enough time to use his Giganoid with the movie over.
  • In Go-Ongerepisode 34, Kamen Rider Kiva is seen performing Go-On Blue's part of the team roll call, along with Toppa Bashin and Cure Dream performing Red and Yellow's.
  • Episodes of Kamen Rider Decade on July 12 and July 19, 2009, as well as Act 21 of Samurai Sentai Shinkenger, featured a crossover between the two series. Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger and Kamen Rider Decade are similar in that both feature warriors changing into those of the past, they are both anniversey seasons, and both feature one of their movies being a big gathering of all heroes of their respective shows.
  • Kamen Rider vs. Super Sentai: Super Hero Taisen, a crossover movie between all Super Sentai and Kamen Riders has been announced in 2011, for Spring 2012.
  • The movie featured the Gokaigers and Decade as the lead, with Go-Busters and Fourze having a more minor role.
  • From this movie onwards, almost all Spring Movies would be a crossover between the two franchises.
  • Aside from on-screen crossovers, Kamen Riders and Super Sentai have joined forces numerous times in stage shows over the years. Numerous actors have had roles for episodes and/or films in both the Super Sentai and Kamen Rider series.

Premise[edit]

Note this list does not included actors who have played Super Sentai characters in a crossover with Kamen Rider, such as World of Shinkenger and Super Hero Taisen.

  • For example, Yui Koike, who plays Ahim de Famille in Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger and in Super Hero Taisen is counted due to her role in Kamen Rider W, while her co-star, Ryota Ozawa, who plays Captain Marvelous in Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger and Super Hero Taisen, is not counted as he has not played an original Kamen Rider character.
  • Marika Reimon/DekaYellow. Yuko Fukui/Kyoryu Cyan. Tokusou Sentai DekarangerZyuden Sentai Kyoryuger. Eiji Takaoka/Bouken Silver. Tessai/Shinya Tsukouchi/Kyoryu Gray . Boy in the Zyuland (ep 38). Men (episode 3). When Saban acquired the rights to create an adaptation of Kamen Rider similar to Power Rangers, they created "Masked Rider". Masked Rider was introduced in a three-part episode of Power RangersTV STORY-A Friend in Need that paved the way for Masked Rider. In 1996, Marvel Comics published a one-shot issue of Masked Rider, which was the last time the character teamed up with the Power Rangers.
  • However, by Jan 2014, without any further news of development from any team in Saban’s production staff, the trademark expired, with the project likely abandoned long before the expiration date.
  • In addition, Adness Entertainment went defunct at the end of the 2010s after a few failed investments and no new activity to generate money to keep the company going, thus killing any chance of more adaptations.
  • The Gorengers with Kamen Rider Stronger. Battle Fever J, Kamen Rider V3, Kamen Rider Stronger, Japanese Spiderman, Ultraman Jonias, & Doreman at Korakuen Yuenchi.

Shin Kamen Rider (シン・仮面ライダー, Shin Kamen Raidā) is an upcoming Japanese tokusatsusuperhero film written and directed by Hideaki Anno, produced to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Kamen Rider Series and is a reboot of the original 1971 Kamen Rider series.[3] It is the third of Anno's reboots of tokusatsu franchises, following 2016's Shin Godzilla and the upcoming Shin Ultraman.[4] The film is scheduled for release in March 2023.
  12. College student and motorcycle enthusiast Takeshi Hongo is abducted by the evil organization Shocker and converted into a cyborg as part of their plans for world domination.
  13. Before they can brainwash him to do their bidding, he escapes and uses his new enhanced abilities as Kamen Rider to wage a one-man war against Shocker.[5].
  14. Takeshi Hongo (本郷 猛, Hongō Takeshi): Sosuke Ikematsu (池松 壮亮, Ikematsu Sōsuke)[1]. Ruriko Midorikawa (緑川 ルリ子, Midorikawa Ruriko): Minami Hamabe (浜辺 美波, Hamabe Minami)[1].
  15. Hayato Ichimonji (一文字 隼人, Ichimonji Hayato): Tasuku Emoto (柄本 佑, Emoto Tasuku)[6]. Anno first proposed Shin Kamen Rider after growing close with Toei producer Muneyuki Kii during production of Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo.
  16. Planning for the film began in 2015 with Anno as director and screenwriter. Toei initially aimed for release in 2021, the year of the Kamen Rider franchise’s 50th anniversary; However, production was delayed due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.[7].
  17. The film was announced in a press conference on April 3, 2021, the 50th anniversary of the franchise’s first episode.[3][8][9] Anno, who grew up with the original 1971 Kamen Rider series, expressed his admiration for the franchise, calling it “epoch-making” and expressing a desire to "give back in some small way".[5][4][10] Producer Shinichiro Shirakura revealed the teaser poster, illustrated by Mahiro Maeda, as well as plans for a simultaneous global release in March 2023.[7].
  18. On October 10, the film's official Twitter account revealed that Hayato Ichimonji/Kamen Rider 2 will appear in the film.[18] On January 1, 2022, it was revealed that Tasuku Emoto would play the role.[6].
  19. Principal photography for the film wrapped in late 2021.[19]. The film's version of Kamen Rider was designed by Anno, Maeda, and Ikuto Yamashita.[20] A number of approaches to modernizing the design were considered, but the designers felt they steered too close to previous reimaginings such as Kamen Rider: The First and Kamen Rider Black.[21] It was ultimately decided to go "back to basics," retaining the overall design of the original 1971 suit with only subtle alterations.[22][20].
  20. Yamashita also designed the film’s incarnation of the Cyclone, Kamen Rider's motorcycle.[23] Use of a fully computer-generated bike was proposed, but ultimately rejected due to concerns over budget and screentime.[24] The designer realized it would be impossible to faithfully recreate the original Cyclone’s silhouette with a modern bike; As such, production focused on finding a practical vehicle suited for the film’s action sequences, which then served as the base for Yamashita’s design.[25].
  21. Yutaka Izubuchi, a veteran designer who worked on the previous film reboot, Kamen Rider: The First, designed the film's incarnation of Man-Spider.[26][27].
  22. In February 2022, Toho, Khara, Toei, and Tsuburaya Productions announced a collaborative project titled "Shin Japan Heroes Universe" for merchandise, special events and tie-ins.
  23. The project will unite properties that Anno had worked on bearing the title "Shin", such as Rebuild of Evangelion,[a]Shin Godzilla, Shin Ultraman and Shin Kamen Rider.[28][29].
